Buying antique revolver

If you’re eyeing a revolver and it’s labeled as an antique under federal law (usually meaning it was made before 1899), then good news. You typically won’t have to deal with an FFL or even show an ID to buy it. Antique firearms don’t fall under the same rules as regular guns according to the Gun Control Act, which means you might just find it showing up right at your doorstep hassle-free.

I’d definitely recommend checking in with the seller first just to make sure everything’s above board. You want to ensure they’re legit and really understand the legal stuff. Some platforms or dealers might still request ID just to be on the safe side, even if it’s not a strict legal requirement. When it comes to firearms and the paperwork that goes with them, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
