Any 19911 fans around?

I’ve always been a huge fan of classic 1911s but I’ve been getting more into the tactical side of things lately. It’s pretty swampy where I live, so I’m always searching for finishes that can handle the Delta heat without rusting overnight. It’s awesome to be around folks who think like me!

I believe that when God created man he made our hands the way he did because He knew J.M Browning would one day invent the 1911 to fill them. The 1911 has a way of fitting hands of almost any size and be comfortable and controllable when fired. I have and have carried many 1911 pistols.

While I do love that foot deep blue of a Colt I also appreciate the rugged durability of a good stainless steel pistol. I have Colts intro into the "weather proof" arena, a Commander finished in electrolysis nickel as well as a few true stainless steel pistols. I highly recommend the Ruger stainless with a Kimber following close on its heels. Either will be suitable outdoor carry companions and give you a lifetime of service. I lean more to the Ruger as it has no plastic parts and I like the sights better as I am not a fan of fiber optic sights.

The Ruger uses the Series 70 style safety while the Kimber is of Schwartz design. I have seen issues with the Kimber safety causing the pistol to not fire because the safety did not release. Ruger fit and finish is slightly better but Kimbers cost a fraction less.

My advise is to find a rental range, club or shooting buddy that can let you try both, preferably side by side before making up your mind.
