Slim Jims are my go to range snack if I'm planning a long session. Hunting snacks depends on the species being hunted and how I plan to hunt. Sitting in a shooting house pretty much requires a variety of Little Debbie snack cakes. After all that is the universal shooting house snack! I also bring a sandwich or two and keep a few cans of Vienna sausage in my kit. Of course the day starts with a gas station biscuit, a fried bologna biscuit if they are available. When I squirrel hunt I try to keep a pocket full of roasted peanuts for the times when I'm just sitting and watching.
I hunt the Pascagoula River swamps so I travel by boat or canoe. On more than a few occasions I have built a small fire to make coffee and cook a mid-morning snack. One of my favorites was a link of sausage wrapped in crescent rolls dough skewered on a stick and roasted.
