I have a passion for rifles, shotguns and handguns, whatever works best for the task at hand. I do a fair bit of hog hunting since they can be a real issue in this area, and I also go deer hunting in the fall. When I find the time, I enjoy plinking and target shooting. There are some great outdoor shooting opportunities here and the laws are quite favorable for gun enthusiasts.

I am on the Coast and hunt mostly in the Pascagoula River swamps and backwaters so I have seen plenty of hogs. For a while I hunted with friends who kept bay and catch dogs. That is a very different kind of hunting. In our area it is extremely challenging because of the terrain we were hunting in. I never returned from a hunt not covered in mud, scratches and soaking wet! Time constraints limit my hog hunting lately to a few hunts a year. Sometimes I get a hankering for a bit of fresh pork so I will establish a bait station and trap a pig or two for the freezer.
