Earlie, dad and I were joking about how every state has its own bird and flowerand we wondered why there isn’t a state gun as well. So we were curious if Mississippi had to pick an official firearm, what do you think it should be and why?

Now that is a head scratcher. Just first thoughts mind you but a shotgun comes to mind as an appropriate Mississippi gun. Either a Remington 870 or 1100. Those would take any and all game in the state and do it quite handily. Of course, some might argue that a single or double barrel shotgun would be more appropriate considering the cost of the Remingtons, but those are what comes to mind when I think of family in the Appalachian region. Hillbilly's, moonshine. sang hunters and such are in my ancestry.

Yeah a good ole Remington would take ducks in the delta, squirrels in the river bottoms of the south, quail in the piney woods, bears in the hill country and deer statewide. My vote goes to the two workhorses from the Remington stable, the 1100 and the 870.
