I'm curious about everyone's first handguns. Do you still have yours? I remember mine like it was yesterday—what a mix of excitement and nerves! Feel free to share your stories or even post a pic if you have one!

My first handgun was a Glock 19 Gen 4, and I can still vividly recall the excitement and nerves I felt when I finally got my hands on it. I had done my homework, watched countless videos, and thought I was all set but nothing could prepare me for that initial moment at the range. Loading it up, taking aim, and squeezing the trigger was an experience like no other. The sound was loud and snappy, and I’ll admit, it was a bit intimidating at first. But wow, I fell head over heels for it in no time!

My first was a S&W K38. That was followed by a Dan Wesson Pistol Pak that I foolishly sold. My first bought by me after turning 21 was a Colt Woodsman. I had some issues...Load it up pull the trigger and hang on because it would empty the magazine. I returned it and bought a Ruger New Model Single Six which I still have.

Mine's a Springfield XD9 and I actually still have it now. I remember the time how nervous I am when I first took it to the range with my uncles 😂
I was raised in a Law Enforcement family. My father and two uncles were cops. That meant I received an early and continuous exposure to firearms and their accessories. Range days, whether formal at the range or informal at the farm, were common so I don't remember a lot of nervousness associated with guns. New guns do tend to bring on a bit of giddy excitement though.

Having exposed more than a few newcomers to our sport I have witnesses quite a bit of that nervousness and tried to channel that from nervousness/apprehension to respect and carefulness. The fact that you are still shooting tells me you made that same transition.
