Hey everyone! I need to find a local gunsmith for some repairs I've been putting off. If you have someone you trust for good work, please share their info! I'd love to hear about your experiences.

Not knowing where you are located it’s a bit difficult to give any suggestions but I couldn’t help you out anyway because I’m actually in the same boat you are not knowing an excellent smith, that I would trust or recommend. These days, finding a good gunsmith can be likened to actually finding that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If you find one, sell your home and move in next door to him and if possible apprentice with him because they ain’t making many excellent gunsmiths anymore. I’ve known a couple in my time that I would trust with my best pieces but unfortunately, those men, have all passed on to the other side. This is why if I can handle the repair, I do it myself.

Whynot Firearms in Meridian. On Facebook as Whynot Gunsmith Shop.

I have used the Gunsmith services available through Stone Arms in Mobile, AL with good service and reasonable prices. However they will not do work on handguns from out of state owners. I wasn't told why but it probably has something to do with the ATF regulations.

I don’t have Facebook.

Have you ever had any work done by Whynot in Meridian?

I’m real particular about who does work on my firearms.

I once had a barrel replaced on a model 12 Winchester by a very well known sporting goods store in Mobile that had an in-house gunsmith. Didn’t do everything I wanted done and the work they did do was done incorrectly.

I haven't had need to use Whynot yet but will certain;y give them a try if needed. I can echo you experience with "In House" services from some shops. They usually are okay with mounting a scope a bore sighting but not much else.
