I'm eager to hear from fellow gun owners about their experiences with suppressor wait times. Was your approval process fast with eForms, or did it take forever with paper? Share your stories and any advice for navigating the NFA process, especially for first-timers.

My longest wait was one day short of 14 months. My shortest and most recent was 9 days. My first purchase was using paper forms. Electronic forms were not available back then and my wait was about 30 days from cashing my check to picking up my paperwork and suppressor. The latest one was submitted via the kiosk at my LGS and that process is by far the easiest.

Switching to the eForm process has sped things up compared to those old paper Form 4 days. I’ve seen people get their approvals in as little as 90 days, while others are left hanging for over a year. Back when we were using paper forms, it wasn’t unusual to wait over 12months, and sometimes even longer.

If you’re a first-timer diving into this whole process, double-check that all your info is spot on. One tiny error can lead to delays or worse, rejections. If you’re buying through a dealer, they should be more than happy to help guide you through it. And don’t forget about your passport photo and fingerprints. Those seem to be the things that really trip people up.
