I shoot mostly rimfire, .22lr and .22mag. I hunt squirrels and am always on the hunt for a better, more accurate round. As I shoot suppressed I tend to favor rounds that run less than 1100fps. Right now the most economical and accurate round with acceptable terminal performance is the CCI Segmented Subsonic. This is a copper washed segmented 40 grain bullet running an advertised 1080FPS. In my Clark Custom 77/22 it is consistently squirrel accurate, I.e. 1/2" at 50 yards.
I tried the CCI Suppressor Max this week and was disappointed. This is a 45gr. copper washed segmented bullet running 970fps. After 50 rounds to season the bore I settled in for five ten shot groups. The best of these was 1" with most running 2"+ .
Because I had trouble finding this ammo I bought several boxes when I did. I will continue to try them in other rifles but for now they have been moved to the "Plinking Ammo" shelf.
