You shoot a classifier, get a percentage, get put in a division. That number feels final and important in the moment, then you talk to anyone who's been competing for more than a year and they tell you the classification system just gives you a starting point. It's not a grade, it's a baseline.
 
Everyone treats it like a report card, then realizes it’s just a starting line with a number attached.
 
My first classifier felt like a final exam. Later I realized nobody really cares after a month. It’s just a baseline to track your own progress from.
